Linking Sales & Sourcing

Meet Claire Hou

Qingdao Office Manager, Sourcebynet China

Claire joined Sourcebynet in 2012 — drawn by the reputation of the company long before stepping through the doors. Over the years, she’s moved from Business Development to heading up the entire Qingdao office, where she now leads sourcing operations, builds supplier relationships, and ensures every function in the office works as one — while staying closely connected to sales teams in Denmark, Japan, the UK, and Australia.

As Jim Kas, Head of the Danish office, puts it: “Claire is exceptional at communication and team management — she creates clarity and alignment across borders, which makes a big difference for both suppliers and sales.”

Claire is the kind of colleague who thrives in complexity:“Coming from a setup with only one internal client, I was amazed by the sheer number of parallel projects here — and how Sourcebynet delivers quality results across the board. That’s only possible because of our great people.”

What motivates Claire? “Seeing the results we deliver together,” she says. She enjoys the complexity, driving results, and keeping the team energized — even on the most hectic days. “I’m in my element when we’re solving challenges as one team,” she adds.

Ask anyone in Qingdao, and they’ll tell you: Claire brings both structure and warmth. She’s known for her leadership, her deep industry know-how — and her love for cats (at one point, she had five… plus a golden retriever).

Her take on the SBN culture? “We trust, we share, and we respect one another’s work. That’s what makes it work.”

Building Quality from the Ground Up

meet Simon Yeo

Simon Yeo, head of Quality & Compliance

Simon Yeo has been part of Sourcebynet since 2005. He’s played a key role in building the company’s global quality systems from scratch — and he’s still evolving with the business.

“As I celebrate 20 years with Sourcebynet, I reflect on a journey shaped by transformation, resilience, and growth. Coming from a structured environment like Sony, the early days were a stark contrast — there was no Quality department, and my first salary was issued by cheque. Yet it was within this raw and dynamic environment that I found purpose.”

Together with his colleague Chai, Simon developed Sourcebynet’s first Quality SOP — creating a foundation for scalable standards that are still used across the company today. Since then, he’s taken on a broader role in Compliance — and has never lost sight of what matters most: the people.

“The unwavering commitment, loyalty, and trustworthiness of our teams — that’s what truly defines Sourcebynet. It’s a privilege to work alongside such capable and dedicated colleagues.”

One of them is Benjamin Peadon, Sourcebynet’s Sustainability Manager:

“Working with Simon is like teaming up with a walking encyclopaedia of compliance and quality. His experience runs deep, and he always shows kindness and willingness to help at a moment’s notice. I’ve learned — and continue to learn — a huge amount from him.”

After two decades, Simon continues to evolve with the business — a quiet but consistent force behind Sourcebynet’s trusted reputation.

From backup to frontline – meet a young talent

Meet Holly Wilkie

Sales Account Executive, United Kingdom FOB team

Holly Wilkie joined Sourcebynet through a business administration apprenticeship — and in just two years, she’s become a trusted sales account executive in our UK FOB team, working closely with customers and suppliers across Asia.

Day-to-day, she helps shape product ideas, follows them from first brief to launch, and ensures every detail is retail-ready — from technical specs and descriptions to live listings.

“I love learning new things, taking on challenges, and seeing how I can grow — both in my role and together with the team,” Holly says.

She works closely with our teams in Dongguan, Shanghai, Qingdao, and Indonesia, and finds energy in collaboration: bouncing around ideas, solving problems, and knowing that her work has a real impact.

As Suzanne Macleod, Head of UK puts it:
“Working with Holly is a joy every day — she approaches her development journey at Sourcebynet with integrity, enthusiasm, and a genuine thirst for learning, while always placing her customers at the heart of everything she does.”

Around the office, Holly is known for being both reliable and full of energy — always ready to deliver, and always up for a good chat.

Business Development Lead (DK office)

Business Development lead

Product Development • Customer Projects • Global Collaboration

Full-time, English language

Aabenraa, Denmark (EU HQ), 2 days per week on-site required

About Sourcebynet
Sourcebynet is a global indoor products sourcing and sales company with offices in Europe, Asia and Australia. We connect world-class factories with leading retail customers across indoor dining, sofas, side tables, tiles and home accessories.
This role sits at the intersection of product development, sales and customer partnership. You will work globally, with depth across our Asian sourcing network, and will be based out of our European headquarters in Aabenraa, Denmark min two days per week.

The Role
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role for someone who thrives in an international environment, enjoys making things happen across functions and cultures, and brings both analytical rigour and strong interpersonal skills to everything they do. It’s a genuine development role — you’ll build deep product and commercial expertise fast, with a clear path to manager positions.

Product Development Coordination
▸ Translate customer briefs into precise, actionable development tasks for sourcing, design and factory teams
▸ Coordinate product briefings with manufacturing partners in China, Vietnam and South-East Asia
– Track sample progress, manage feedback loops, and ensure technical approvals are achieved on time
– Ensure product specifications meet both customer requirements and applicable regulatory standards (EN, EUDR, FSC, etc.)
▸ Support the creation of product proposals, range presentations and quote submissions to customers
▸ Work closely with QC and technical teams to resolve product development challenges before they escalate

Customer Project Implementation
▸ Lead end-to-end implementation of new customer projects — from brief receipt through to final delivery and sign-off
▸ Coordinate across internal teams: sales, sourcing, QC, design and supply chain — keeping everyone aligned and on schedule
– Ensure all milestones, sample approvals and customer deadlines are consistently met
– Manage deviations and exceptions proactively — flag early, resolve fast, communicate clearly
▸ Act as the primary internal project owner and the customer’s key contact throughout the product journey
▸ Build and maintain structured project tracking — provide regular, clear status updates to stakeholders

Sales & Business Development
▸ Identify and develop new business opportunities — within existing accounts and with target new customers
▸ Support the preparation and submission of tenders and commercial proposals for key accounts
– Analyse customer product portfolios to identify white space and propose relevant SBN solutions
– Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging customer needs in the indoor category
▸ Build and maintain long-term relationships with buyers, product managers and decision-makers
▸ Represent SBN at customer meetings, trade shows and product reviews — in Europe and internationally

Analytics & Reporting
▸ Develop and maintain performance dashboards across customers, product categories and project pipelines
▸ Analyse sales data, margins and project KPIs — and turn numbers into decisions
– Deliver clear, concise insights to the commercial and management teams on a regular cadence
– Identify underperforming accounts, categories or processes and recommend concrete corrective actions
▸ Contribute to regular commercial reporting and input into quarterly planning

Your Profile
Experience & Background
▸ 3–6 years’ experience in a sales, project management, account management or business development role
▸ Background in sourcing, retail buying, product development or consumer goods is preferred
– Demonstrable experience coordinating across multiple international teams and time zones
– Previous exposure to Asian supplier or customer relationships is a significant advantage
▸ Experience working within — or alongside — a sourcing organisation is a plus

Analytical Skills
▸ Proficient in Excel and comfortable with reporting and planning tools (e.g. PowerBI, ERP systems)
– Able to translate data into simple, actionable recommendations for commercial and management audiences
– Detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger commercial picture

Project & Commercial Skills
▸ Project management — structures complex, multi-stakeholder workstreams with clarity and discipline
▸ Able to manage multiple active customer projects simultaneously without dropping detail
– Commercially literate — understands margin, pricing, cost structures and the commercial levers that matter
– Comfortable preparing and presenting commercial proposals to senior customer contacts
▸ Solution-oriented — finds a way forward, even when the path is not obvious

Interpersonal Skills & Global Collaboration
▸ Strong interpersonal skills — builds trust quickly, adapts communication style across cultures
▸ Proven ability to work effectively with colleagues and partners across Europe, Asia and beyond
– Culturally sensitive — comfortable collaborating with teams in China, Vietnam and Singapore, often across time zones
– Assertive and clear without being rigid — knows when to push and when to listen
▸ Brings energy, warmth and credibility to every interaction — internally and with customers

Work Pattern & Location
▸ Required to work from the EU headquarters in Aabenraa a minimum of two days per week
– Remaining working days are flexible — remote WFH
– Regular travel expected — customer visits, trade shows and supplier trips in Asia (typically 4–5 times per year)
▸ Must be comfortable working across multiple time zones — early morning calls with Asia are part of the role

Language
▸ English and German language skills are a strong advantage given SBN’s European customer and commercial base

Mindset — what makes someone succeed in this role
▸ Entrepreneurial — comfortable with ambiguity, builds new ways of working without waiting for a perfect brief
▸ Customer-obsessed — always starts from the customer’s point of view, not the internal process
▸ Self-starter — takes initiative, follows through, and closes the loop without being asked
▸ Collaborative — brings colleagues and partners with them, not just delivers alone
▸ Honest and direct — says what needs to be said, constructively and with respect

What we offer
▸ A genuinely international role — daily contact with colleagues across Europe and Asia
▸ Real commercial ownership — your work directly shapes customer relationships and product outcomes
▸ A fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where initiative is recognised and rewarded
▸ A structured development path — growing scope and mentorship, designed to grow this role into a senior commercial or regional leadership position
▸ Competitive base salary with a performance-based incentive component
▸ Two days per week on-site in Aabenraa with flexibility for the remaining days
▸ A team that values directness, quality and getting things done
